CEO Coaching
Over the past 10 years I've had the unique opportunity to provide CEO coaching for leaders of some of the most admired companies (client list) in a variety of industries. Even though they all have different businesses they all seem to have the same four challenges:
- It is physically and emotionally challenging to be the CEO -more reason for them to be learning how to take better care of themselves which is possible through Coaching
- It's frightening - even though they don't want to admit it to their staff, Board of Directors, or significant others, it takes a lot of courage to be a CEO
- It's lonely - at the end of the day the buck stops with him/her and there is no one else in the organization that has their level of responsibility
- It's hard to admit your weaknesses - we know that everyone has "blind spots" and parts of them that are underdeveloped, yet when you are the CEO you feel like no one wants to hear about or discuss your weaknesses
So when should a CEO be considering Coaching? I go back to my favorite analogy- Tiger Woods is the greatest golfer on the planet, yet he has a Coach and has reinvented his swing three times even though he was already at the top of his game. I believe every CEO can benefit from CEO Coaching. I truly believe the CEOs who are open to new perspectives and willing to try on new practices are the ones who will reach the highest level of business results and personal satisfaction.
